In the Begining there was a box of bits and a smile

So From a Box of bits turning up one night, and with a little bit of dilligance,  I built it thus far. Placed engine in frame added wheels and suspension, reassembled brakes back together  (well almost) exhaust rebuilt tank aquired handlebars aquired and fitted.

Oh and a respray to satin black.

As you see in the pic so far so good.

Next  up came an axle  and here we start our journey into the  bewildering array of what will fit and what will work department .. For me  it came down to three things the  final drive must be able to tow  a small trailor and  three adults at 65 mph over great distances, so weight  and  length versus fuel simple calculations ( as you`ll note as we progress  i like simple)  resulted in a sj axle and a xs 750  bike  in an 850 frame.

Bike plus axle

So now we have most of the bits, a head scratch and  umm where are the  handbrake mounts?  "ahh well"  says the mighty forum  "the axle doesnt come with  handbrake on the axle  its on a seperate box.."  "oh says I and  this means?"   "well in real terms it means  purchasing a seperate box  and propshaft that  has to be frame mounted and sits betweeen engine and prop to rear axle, the upside is the  handbrake will be second to none!   "the downside?" I ventured to ask   "having to find a damn handbrake  mechanizm  and prop  for it.."  ok so umm  I`ll get back to you on that bit .
